Summer Blockbusters
This summer is going to have a very wide variety of movies, all the way from romance to complete and utter gore bonanzas. One movie that is highly anticipated is the remake of "Avatar: The Last Air Bender". This is a remake of the animated series that was aired on Nickelodeon over the past couple years. There are mixed reviews that say making it in to live action is a bad move, however, many people aren’t too worried because of some of the people that are involved in making this movie. M. Night Shyamalan is the director of "The Last Air Bender"; he has done many well known movies such as "Signs", "The Happening", "The Village" and even "The Sixth Sense".
Another highly anticipated movie coming up is "Toy Story 3". This newest installment will also be released in 3D, making the characters even more real and enjoyable. The difference in this movie is that Andy is all grown up and is heading to college so there may not be the same connection that this movie has had in earlier predecessors.
However, with all this in mind, many people will still be paying for it and it is expected to make plenty of money and bring a smile to many young faces everywhere.
Another big movie that has a lot to live up to is "The Karate Kid". With the high success rate of the past Karate Kid movies, this newest one really wants to bring back the old feel and genre of early kung fu in American society. Jackie Chan is playing a whole new character in the series, taking the part of the teacher, the character Mr. Miyagi in the original movie. Also starring as a main character in this film is currently-rising star Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s son). Jaden will be taking the part of the karate kid, making it a physically taxing roll pertaining to modern cinematic entertainment.
All these movies have their own unique attributes that will be attracting wide crowds from all over the world. These are just a few of the movies that are going to be released during this summer. However, there are many more on the way as well.
